FAQ
-
What should I wear during the spray tan?
At Sunless by Stephanie, what you wear during your appointment is entirely up to you. Many of my clients choose the disposable thong I provide, some prefer swimsuits, and others go nude for the most even, natural-looking spray tan. It’s about what makes you feel comfortable and which tan lines you’re okay with.
-
Can I get a spray tan if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Spray tanning is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. My luxury spray tan solutions contain natural, plant-based DHA that reacts only with the outermost layer of skin and is never absorbed into the bloodstream. For nursing clients, I recommend covering the chest or wearing a top. As hormones can affect results, your glow may develop slightly lighter or darker than usual. A patch test and a doctor’s consultation are always recommended for peace of mind.
-
How long will my spray tan last?
Your custom spray tan typically lasts 7–10 days depending on your skin type, prep, and aftercare. Here in Whitehorse, where many clients have naturally dry skin, hydrating is key. Daily moisturizing (I recommend Neutrogena Hydro Boost or NUDA tan-safe products) and avoiding long hot showers, swimming, or saunas will extend your glow. Since the face fades first, adding a take-home face tan water is a great way to maintain an even look.
-
How should I prepare for my appointment?
To achieve flawless, even results, exfoliate in the days leading up to your session and do one final exfoliation and shave (if needed) 24 hours before your tan. Arrive with clean, product-free skin. This means no lotions, oils, deodorant, or makeup, as they create barriers to the tanning solution.
-
Does a spray tan protect against UV rays?
No. A spray tan does not protect your skin from sunburns. Always wear a broad-spectrum mineral SPF 30+ sunscreen if you’re spending time outdoors. Spray tanning is the best UV-free tanning alternative for a sun-kissed glow without the risks of sun damage.
-
Do you use clean, non-toxic products?
Yes! I use spray tan solutions, crafted in Canada with vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic ingredients. They are free from sulfates, parabens, mineral oils, gluten, dyes, and synthetic fragrance. Enriched with skin-loving botanicals like aloe vera, cucumber, chamomile, mango, and hyaluronic acid, these formulas hydrate and protect your skin while giving you a radiant, natural glow.

What products should I avoid while I have a spray tan?
To keep your tan even and long lasting,
avoid harsh soaps with sulfates, oil-based lotions or cleansers, exfoliants (scrubs and loofahs), alcohol-based products like toners or deodorants, pimple patches, retinols, and long hot baths, saunas, or hot tubs. Instead, stick to tan-safe options such as Neutrogena Hydro Boost, CeraVe, Hempz, or NUDA aftercare to keep your glow flawless.
